Fall 2005-2006 WES Camp: The fifth and sixth grade students for 2005-2006 school year will be attending Whiskeytown Environmental School. This is a wonderful educational opportunity for hands on science experience. This school is run by Shasta County Office of Education and their outdoor experience crew. During this one week camp experience, the students learn about edible plants, local animal life, rock cycles and lots of other earth science topics related to the California Science Framework. The cost of this environmental school is approximately $150 per student. During the fall of 2004 many of our students sold Ducky Derby tickets. These funds were allocated to the individual students who sold the tickets. This fund raiser will also be available this coming fall. However, if your child is looking for additional means to raise money for camp there are several boxes of candy bars available to sell. When your child takes a box of candy bars it is expected that they will return $52 (no candy bars may be returned unsold). Of that $52, $24 will be credited to your child's WES camp fund. If you have an interest in this fund raiser, please contact Mrs. Krupit in room 132.

Corteens: Are you 11-15 years of age and looking for fun things to do with others your own age? If so, come share your ideas of what you would like to see made available to you. After ideas are presented you will have an opportunity to get involved in the planning, implementing, promoting, marketing, and fundraising of the selected activities by signing up for the committees that are of interest to you. It is the hope of Parks and Recreation that year-round special events, outings, but trips, and community service opportunities will be made available to the 11-15 year olds in the area that are planned and organized by and for the participants themselves as a result of this meeting. Come make a difference on May 24 from 7-9 pm at the Caldwell Recreation Center. For additional information, please call Crystal Knowlton at Redding Recreation, 225-4096.
